
CENTER FOR BIODIVERSITY RESEARCH (CBR)
Mission Statement
CBR serves biodiversity in Sierra Leone through research and
monitoring, and by determining the distributions and adequacy of
current protected area systems, and monitoring the population
threatened endangered and exploited fauna and flora.
Objectives

To conduct biodiversity
research and monitoring through inventories of fauna and
flora across major ecosystems in Sierra Leone

To establish an information
management system (bioinformatics) by building a data base
over time on habitats and species, periodically updated
through repeated data collection

To determine the impact of
traditional land use system and major development project on
biodiversity by conducting environmental impact assessment (EIA)
studies

To participate in protected
areas establishment in representative ecosystems, ensuring
effective management based on applied biodiversity research.
