COUNCIL FOR HUMAN ECOLOGY IN SIERRA LEONE (CHEC-SIL)

Mission Statement

• To supports government of Sierra Leone (GoSL) in promoting through education, policy implementation and project execution, the extension of sciences of ecology in the interest of the sustainable human well being and quality of life.

Objectives

• To arouse public awareness and create an understanding through education outreach broad cast to the public, seminars and workshops, of the existence nature and implications of problems of human ecology I Sierra Leone

• To work with and in the community at grass root and higher levels of and initiate programmes for skills development to alleviate problems caused by poverty and political crisis to the environment

• To demonstrate the relationship between human ecology and the environment though agro forestry and land management systems which will promote strategies for food security and encourage the reforestation of degraded areas

• To act as consultant, provide training and under take research, case, feasibility and base line studies participate in the formulation of strategies for environmental protection and management

• To reach out to people in the community with information about prevention and spread of HIV and provide counseling services.
